Welcome to Mobile Developer Tips!

The first tip was posted on Mobile Developer Tips in August of 2008. Since that time the site has had steady and continual growth and is now a resource for iOS developers around the world.

Background Information:

I’ve been involved in software development for just over 20 years, with the past 11 years focused on mobile solution architecture and integration of mobile technology software, services and tools.

I am the author of a best-selling mobile developer book, Core J2ME, a book written in 2000 which is still published in several foreign languages. I’ve written extensively about software development for many publications, including O’Reilly, Dr. Dobbs, PC Magazine, Forum Nokia and IBM developerWorks, among others.

I am currently consulting as the iOS/iPhone Solution Architect for Isis (PayWithIsis.com), a joint venture of AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon to design and deliver a mobile wallet solution offering payment, loyalty and rewards via near field communications (NFC) on a range of mobile devices and platforms.

My consulting work has involved collaboration with many well known businesses and brands:

* AT&T / Verizon / T-Mobile (Consultant for ISIS)
* LucasFilms (StarWars), THQ, Warner Brothers, HBO, Snoop Dogg, The Astrologer
* Nokia / Sony Ericsson / Symbian / Sprint / Motorola / Sun Microsystems

I’ve designed and developed over 30 iPhone applications, including three Star Wars applications for LucasFilms, all featured by Apple on the App Store. In addition, the iPhone application for rapper Snoop Dogg was featured on The Tonight Show in 2009.

I’ve been a key contributor to several technology certification programs, including the industry’s first mobile developer certification exam: Sun Certified Mobile Application Developer. I also review submissions for various technology events/conferences, including JavaOne and Mobile and Embedded Developer Days.

I hope you find Mobile Developer Tips helpful as you go about designing and developing applications for iOS devices.
